Technology planning and design.

A technology plan for a new build, remodel, retrofit, or upgrade, drawn before anything is bought: what goes where, and what it connects to.

Why design the technology
before buying equipment?

Because most of the failures we are called to fix were decided before installation: a rack with no ventilation, a network with no capacity, keypads nobody agreed on. A design settles those decisions on paper, with your architect and designer, while changes still cost nothing.

The scope.

  1. 01A needs assessment and a written brief
  2. 02Drawings, elevations, and device locations agreed with your architect and designer
  3. 03Equipment room, rack, power, heat, and cable routes
  4. 04A device schedule the trades can build from

Questions worth asking early.

When should technology design start?

Before the electrical plan is fixed. On a new build or a major renovation that is usually during design development, so cable routes and device locations are in the drawings rather than added later.

Is a design useful for an existing home?

Yes. For a retrofit or upgrade the design starts from an evaluation of what is installed, then sets out what stays, what goes, and in what order.
